How We Fact-Check and Source Our Reporting
1. Official sources first. We rely on the Social Security Administration (ssa.gov), Medicare.gov and CMS, the IRS, Healthcare.gov, the Department of Labor, and state agency websites.
2. Numbers are checked at the source. Payment amounts, COLA percentages, thresholds and dates are confirmed against the official announcement or publication before we publish.
3. Projections are labeled. Estimates from outside groups are clearly marked as projections, not official figures, and we say who produced them.
4. Links to sources. Where possible we link to the official page so readers can verify details themselves.
5. Updates and corrections. We update articles when official information changes and show the updated date. Errors are fixed under our Corrections Policy.
6. What we don’t do. We don’t publish rumors as fact, and we don’t give personal financial, legal or medical advice.
